(29 September 2025): The United States is preparing to deport hundreds of Iranian citizens, most of whom entered the country illegally through Mexico, according to foreign media reports.
Sources revealed that nearly 400 Iranians are expected to be deported under President Donald Trump’s strict immigration crackdown policy. The deportations mark one of the largest actions against Iranian nationals in recent years.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the reports, stating that in the first phase, 120 Iranian citizens will be deported. A spokesperson explained that the majority of these individuals had crossed into the U.S. unlawfully through the southern border with Mexico.
Meanwhile, The New York Times reported that the deportation initiative represents an unusual form of cooperation between the U.S. and Iran, despite longstanding tensions between the two nations.
Observers note that while U.S.-Iran relations remain strained over issues such as nuclear policy and sanctions, this development reflects a rare point of alignment on immigration matters.
The announcement has already sparked debates among human rights groups, who argue that many of the deportees could face serious risks upon their return to Iran, while U.S. officials insist that the measures are strictly part of immigration enforcement.
