Global Protests Erupt Against Israeli Raid on “Global Sumud Flotilla”

Widespread protests have broken out across the world in response to Israel’s raid on the Global Sumud Flotilla and the detention of several human rights activists, including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg.

According to international media reports, large demonstrations were held in Italy, Greece, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, and other countries. Thousands of people marched in solidarity with Palestinians, condemning the ongoing violence in Gaza and the flotilla raid. Protesters carried banners, chanted slogans against Israeli actions, and demanded urgent international measures to protect aid workers.

In Rome, demonstrators blocked railway stations and major roads, while similar rallies took place in Brussels, Berlin, Athens, and Buenos Aires. In Istanbul, crowds gathered outside the Israeli consulate, voicing support for the flotilla, while in Ankara, protesters waved Palestinian and Turkish flags outside the U.S. Embassy.

The protests follow Israel’s interception of ships attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Al Jazeera reported that the Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed several flotilla vessels had been “safely stopped,” with passengers transferred to Israeli ports.

Activists and rights groups have strongly condemned the raid, calling it a violation of international law and an attack on global humanitarian efforts.
