Islamabad: The government has finalized its strategy regarding the resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members from the standing committees. National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has decided not to accept the resignations of opposition members and has directed government lawmakers to ensure quorum in the committees.
According to sources, the Speaker has issued clear instructions to the Assembly Secretariat that the meetings of standing committees will continue as usual, even without PTI members. In the absence of opposition chairpersons, the meetings will be presided over by the conveners.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that the functioning of standing committees will not be disrupted despite the opposition’s resignations, stating that the active role of committees is essential for legislation and parliamentary oversight.
